Born and raised in South Korea, Kim Minsam is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy degree in Computer Science and Engineering at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
He joined the Asian Future Leaders Scholarship Program in 2015 and is currently a quantitative research intern at Credit Suisse.
During the Tokohu study trip, Minsam was interested in learning about seismic time-series data, wondering the ways that it could be utilized for long-term earthquake prediction or analyzing the regression of tsunami heights.
As an engineer, Minsam admits that he didn’t initially have a strong interest in the Summer Program’s social entrepreneurship aspect. However, the conversations he had during the Program inspired him to apply his expertise, data science, towards helping solve social issues.
